Fiona hill is here tonight, as there have been dramatic developments today about the informant who provided the central allegations at the heart of Congressional Republicans efforts to impeach President Biden this year. This informant today was sent to jail indefinitely by a federal judge in california. He is in jail awaiting trial. Prosecutors arrested and indicted him a week and a half ago, alleging that his statements to Law Enforcement about President Biden and his family not only were lies, but this man had been fed lies and disinformation about President Biden by Russian Intelligence. Despite those ties
i think that s right. and if you want to get back to bannon, he views the main threat in the middle east as iran. one of the things that trump did, his first trip was to saudi arabia. u.s. foreign policy trump s u.s. foreign policy was built on this idea of partnering with the saudis to exert american strength against iran to help contain them. trump famously came in and brokered a $110 million arms deal, at least an agreement to sell arms to the saudis, which he said in the 60 minute interview one of the reasons he was reluctant to act, he didn t want to blow up that deal. he was very clear about protecting a financial consideration of the u.s. weapons manufacturers more important to him than the human rights component in this alleged murder. john, it s kind of like if henry kissinger was we ve seen it before in terms of american foreign policy but this
Cooperation with our allies but in doing this he seems to demean the nature of those relations. the nato alliance, undermining of that. if you re prime minister theresa may of the uk, sitting in london and watching lesley stahl have this conversation, you re probably pulling your hair out at this stage. on china, this is obviously his bugga boo. this is his priority, issues with trade, south china sea, taiwan. this is priority number one for him. why does one have to undermine the clearly pernicious role that russia is playing? you re so well sourced in the steve bannon world. it doesn t seem to me this is that big of a departure from that language. this is america first to the extent he s saying i just don t care about anything that happens overseas.
thank you. thank you very much. the president is now saying exactly what steve bannon wants him to say according to a daily beast report saying that bannon has spoke on the the president by phone and discouraged, quote, the president from rejecting or criticizing moore in public statements and so donald trump says, absolutely nothing. of course, any answer donald trump might have given today to a roy moore question would have provoked a mandatory follow-up question of donald trump s own now public admission that he has himself been guilty of sexual assault. when the washington post broke its story about roy moore 11 days ago, the most horrifying and criminal aspect of the story
So it s more a question of who folks are aligning with as a party more than any specific issues i believe at this time. and, jennifer, steve bannon having the president s ear on this, and apparently the agreement of kellyanne conway, that do not say one public word against roy moore. yeah. reminded of the saturday night live routine of president bannon pulling the strings here. i think, listen. trump has two problems. one, his own past where he has more accusers than roy moore does. it s an unenviable record and if people of alabama do the opposite he will shown to be impotent. they didn t follow the advice on luther strange and not following the advice here he is revealed to be less than all powerful. i think that frightens him probably as much as the revelations about his own past. and, ron klain, here s this
