Doctors in Minnesota expect that they ll again be using a COVID-19 vaccine manufactured by Johnson & Johnson within a few weeks, so long as troubling new safety reports from recipients don t emerge in the coming days.
But even if it returns soon, the vaccine likely will face perception problems after it was temporarily pulled from circulation last week after several patients reportedly suffered side effects involving a rare and dangerous blood clot issue.

The fatal shooting at a medical clinic in Buffalo last week is reigniting anxiety about hospital safety and raising new concerns about how best to deal with irate patients vowing violence.
At Hennepin Healthcare s Whittier Clinic in south Minneapolis, a group of staffers convened the day after the shooting to share their concerns about safety from outside threats. It s stressful, said Ursula Reynoso, program supervisor of Aqui Para Ti, an office within the clinic for Latino youths and their families. Anything that happens anywhere with any type of violence, we think something else could never happen in Whittier.
Hennepin County is reviving plans to expand the NorthPoint Health and Wellness Center clinic in north Minneapolis, a long-anticipated project that has been delayed twice by construction bids that exceeded the county’s budget.
On Tuesday, the county board agreed to seek new construction bids for the estimated $45.2 million project, which will add 68,000 square feet of space to the 67,000-square-foot clinic at 1313 Penn Ave. N. and remodel existing space.
The construction budget is $38.3 million, according to county documents.
Stella Whitney-West, CEO of NorthPoint Health and Wellness Center, said the project will likely go out for bid shortly after construction documents are finalized in January or February. The goal is to break ground on the 28-month project in June or July, she said.

According to the Minnesota Department of Health, African-American adults aged 35-64 die from heart disease at approximately two times the rate of whites of the same age in Minnesota.
