Hunters registered four deer kills in the West Island in 2020, according to new data from Quebec’s Ministry of Forests, Wildlife and Parks.
The continuing phenomenon of hunting in an urban setting like Montreal is more evidence that municipal bylaws restricting the activity and regulating the use of weapons are ineffective, Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue Mayor Paola Hawa said.

“Whether there’s four or 11 or 14, I want zero,” Hawa said Wednesday, on the eve of a meeting of the agglomeration council where she is to table a motion calling for the provincial government to ban hunting on the island.
