Velina Hasu Houston wrote her play “Tea,” about the experiences of Japanese women who immigrated to the U.S. in the 1950s, while she was pursuing her MFA at UCLA. Hero Theatre revived the play this spring its first in two years where it is being staged by two casts featuring Asian actors.
