Attacks on science and democracy are not new, though todays Political Climate brings them into sharp relief. Were witnessing the denial of facts and evidence, the dismantling of science and scientific the expertise in our federal agencies and the rollback of evidencebased public protections. The bottom line is that when science is sidelined in government decisions, people get hurt. And this assault poses an additional threat to our democracy. Indeed, the very fundamental institutions of our democracy our elected officials, appointed officials, our laws, our regulatory system, even the courts are under threat. Government is increasingly responding to the interests of the few over the interests of the many. Trust and confidence in our go ....

to proceed. given the biden administration has said one of the key pillars in foreign policy when presented with a choice between autocrats and democracies, they stand with democracies. can you help us understand why the secretary decided to proceed with the trips given the ban and should we expect that going forward? our relationship with egypt is a important strategic partnership. the secretary met with his counter parts and talked about that. i ll tell you when it came to the press coverage of that portion, having looked further into it, the egyptians lived up to what they had greed upon. some of the lessons learned was in terms of making sure that we were on the same sheet when it came to understanding press access. so we will continue to work. the u.s. had agreed beforehand there there would be a band of journalists? we did not agree to a ban. we agreed to have official photographers. we had one reporter come in to one of the sessions but a portion that was g ....

Liberal students to do crazy stuff that will go against policies, but there needs to be administrators and officials of the university that are there to be abled to reaffirm the commitment to free speech and let these people speak and share their opinions. that s the principle that not only this country was built on but stanford s policies. so you mentioned the apology from the stanford president, from the dean of the law school, which we thought was great. we were assured there would be steps taken for free speech. we want to know what concrete steps will be taken. we believe the biggest issue, this is coming from an administrator. stanford administrators and administrators in every university in this country need to be able to commit to that principle of free speech and affirm that. what we saw from dean steinbeck is that she wasn t able to do that. she tried to commit to free speech but switched and said i m glad this is going on here. ....
