NORTHPORT, Ala. The long-awaited opening of Planet Fitness in Northport came first thing Monday morning as the new fitness center debuted its new location on McFarland Boulevard.
The new Planet Fitness is part of a $10 million redevelopment effort in Northport that will see the gym eventually joined next door by a Guthrie s chicken finger restaurant, along with a Marble Slab creamery and Great American Cookie Company. The 5.5-acre property housing the new Planet Fitness is owned by North Square Properties LLC and located at 3380 McFarland Boulevard, which is the former site of a strip mall that was home to the Salvation Army Thrift Store. ....
