Hello, im samantha simmonds. We start with the situation in gaza. And a ship carrying humanitarian aid is expected to set sail to the territory from cyprus this weekend, as part of a planned maritime aid corridor. Its a joint operation between the eu, us, uk and United Arab Emirates aiming to bring supplies from cyprus to the coast of gaza. The un says a quarter of gazas population is on the brink of famine, and children there are starving to death. Organisers hope the plan could allow large amounts of extra aid, but say it will be complex and continue to press israel to allow more deliveries by road. The European Unions ambassador to the us told the bbc a little more about the plans for the maritime corridor. Hopefully the first pilot try to get aid over the weekend but it takes some time to make sure that its not only once in a time but it has a Sustainable Way to supply aid to the people in gaza and palestine to make sure we ease the situation in the region. With her two children. Welcome to bbc news. I am live in jerusalem outside the walls of the city where in the next few hours, there are hopes that a Ceasefire Deal in gaza could be arranged, but as talks in cairo have broken down in the last few days, theres very little sign of that happening. All of the focus now is on cyprus for a new maritime aid corridor, confirmed yesterday by European Commission president ursula von der leyen, is due to come into operation in the next few hours. This will be the first time this corridor has been used, and the aid is urgently needed. The Hamas Run Health Ministry in gaza said 23 people have died from Malnutition Injust 10 days. The sea corridor is a joint operation between the eu, us, uk, and united arab emirates, aiming to take supplies from cyprus to the gazan coast. These are the latest pictures from larnaca, in cyprus, where, as you can see, aid is being loaded onto a ship, which is due to depart in a couple of hours. Earlier i spoke to hiba tibi shes the Country Director of Care International palestine and she explained the challenges of getting aid into gaza. Any plan that is being taken currently to increase aid in gaza is welcome. These are, unfortunately, aiming to save as many
