Her current book project of the manyy thousands of men and women and children who fled slavery during the civil war and examined how their day to day experiences shaped the way emancipation unfolded in the United States. Shepherd university, as many of you know, is just across the potomac river, and, of course, just in West Virginia. He also is an assistant professor of history in the University History department.
