Taunton Police: Funeral held for Officer John Borges who died of COVID

TAUNTON    Old age is not the only reason that someone should be praised. Rather a good life, a life of service is to be praised, even if it s a short one, because it s a sign of the life to come of putting others first instead of oneself.   The Rev. Richard Wilson, of Holy Family Parish in East Taunton, opened the funeral Mass of Taunton Police Officer John Borges, who died of COVID-19 on Christmas Eve, by honoring his work serving his community.  Family and friends gathered to honor 48-year-old Borges Tuesday morning at St. Mary s Church in Taunton. He was escorted to the church by a parade of other police officers, and was welcomed in and out of the church by the music of bagpipes.
