AMHERST University of Massachusetts students who rely on off-campus jobs for income are being told that if they can’t work remotely, they shouldn’t work at all.
A directive sent by the university Tuesday night told students that “self-sequestration” means students with jobs both on and off campus are not exempt from the order to stay in their dwellings for at least 14 days. The university changed its COVID-19 level to “high-risk” on Sunday, a decision some parents and students find draconian and financially painful.
