building a new movement right now. we re recruiting volunteers. we re raising money. maybe we re not more powerful than the gun lobby today but we ve gotten the universal background checks bill further than ever before. it s passed by the house of representatives. there s a president who s willing to sign it. we have the majority of senators who will vote for it. we just don t have a super majority. we ll get there. but just like every other great social change movement, you ve got to hit a lot of obstacles before you get to success from the minute that the country saw emmett till s open casket, it was over a decade before the first civil rights act was passed. i hope it doesn t take that long, but we have to be in this for the long haul. i know you re not unmoved by the fact that the long haul means our kids are at risk of getting shot in school. that s unacceptable to the majority of americans. so the long haul feels too long. so what do you say to people who don t want to wait for
