now it s time for a look at the weather with matt. good morning. we have at last got a bit of rain in the forecast. a soggy morning for some but welcome news for gardeners. on the radar, a scattering of showers through scotland and northern ireland but the bulk of the rain is through wales, the midlands, lincolnshire and the south west. sliding eastwards. splitting the country into michael stop things brightening up into michael stop things brightening up across the wales and south west. sliding towards the south east. the rain started to ease off. the northern half of the country by contrast, many staying dry through the bulk of the day and even if you see some showers they will be fairly fleeting pushing through on the breeze, the odd head for an sundry one but many places will avoid them
hit at the weekend. even florida was affected by the freezing conditions unusually low temperatures there had a serious affect on the local wildlife. these iguanas you ll be glad to hear are not dead but got so cold that they become immobile and have been falling out of the trees they normally live in. this prompted the florida weather service to warn the public of the falling reptiles but said most will recover as the temperature rises. now it s time for a look at the weather with ben rich. good afternoon. the weather is slowly calming down a little after the two storm systems that work through the weekend. the most recent, storm corrie, sliding eastwards of high pressure building behind but still quite a squeeze in the white lines on this chart. a squeeze on the isobars. still quite windy out there particularly down the east coast with strong winds and high tides still bring a potential for some coastal flooding, showers down the east coast as well.
and then this line of showery rain pushing in from the west. and that is going to work its way eastwards as we move through friday night into the first part of saturday morning. things, though, by the end of the night should be drying out again across northern ireland, and for the eastern side of scotland, down the eastern side of england where we hold onto clear skies, one or two places will turn a little bit chilly. but tomorrow morning will start cloudy and wet for many, thanks to this frontal system which will be pushing its way eastwards. but at least it is moving eastwards. so it offers the promise of something drier and brighter following on from the west. you can see our band of rain as it slides eastwards across scotland, moving out of wales fairly quickly, sliding eastwards across england. northern ireland will start the day with sunshine, holding on to that through the day, albeit with one or two showers. and those sunnier skies with a scattering of showers will spread furth
