Vice-Chancellor of The University of the West Indies (The UWI), Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, who is currently in the final year of his six-year contract, has been reappointed by the institution’s highest governing body, the University Council, for a second six-year term.

th April, for its annual business meeting, approved the renewal of Vice-Chancellor Beckles’ term based on an appraisal of his performance. This included his leadership of the regional university during the throes of pandemic, which saw the University rising to the expectations of its stakeholders, described by the Vice-Chancellor himself as “

The Council which met virtually on Friday, April 30, for its annual business meeting, approved the renewal of Vice-Chancellor Beckles’ term based on an appraisal of his performance. This included his leadership of the regional university during the throes of pandemic, which saw the University rising to the expectations of its stakeholders, described by the Vice-Chancellor himself as “The UWI’s finest hour.”
