Image Source: IANS News Kadapa, May 11 : The Andhra Pradesh police have made one more arrest in connection with their ongoing probe into the limestone quarry explosion in Kadapa district on Saturday that left 10 persons dead. Y.S. Pratap Reddy, kin of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, was arrested and produced in court on Tuesday. District Superintendent of Police, Anburajan, said that Pratap Reddy was arrested on charges of contravention of the laws on transportation of explosive substances, as no safety protocols were observed during transportation.

In the remaining 18 panchayats, YSRC supporters won the polls hands down on Sunday. (Representational Photo: DC) Kadapa: The ruling YSR Congress has won all the panchayats in Pulivendula assembly constituency represented by Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, in this district. The panchayat elections proved that the support for the YSRC and Jagan here has not diminished. Pulivendula has a total of 109 panchayats. Election could not be held for one panchayat – Velamavaripalle in Vempalli mandal. Five candidates had filed nominations there but all of them withdrew the papers later. There were unanimous elections in 90 panchayats. In the remaining 18 panchayats, YSRC supporters won the polls hands down on Sunday.

Sarpanch candidates getting veiled threats from YSRCP camp: TDP MLC

‘Sweet lime orchards of several aspirants damaged in Pulivendula’ TDP MLC M. Ravindranath Reddy has alleged that YSRCP activists destroyed sweet lime orchards of many sarpanch candidates backed by rival political parties in Pulivendula Assembly constituency, which is being represented by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. Several sweet lime orchards have allegedly been damaged in Pydipalem, Mallela, Duggannagaripalle, Pedda Juturu and Gurajala panchayats where the polls are scheduled to be held on February 17. Police protection sought The issue came to light with Mr. Ravindranath Reddy, who is TDP’s Pulivendula constituency in-charge, along with the victims, met Superintendent of Police K.K.N. Anburajan on Monday. The MLC sought police protection for the candidates in view of the ‘perceived threat’. The SP assured to look into the issue.
