It was after a series of intense parleys over the past three days that the Congress decided that veteran party leader Siddaramaiah will be the new CM of the state.
According to party sources, Shivakumar, who met Kharge for around 45 minutes, stressed that he took over the job as Congress chief in Karnataka when no one was ready to accept it.
While Siddaramaiah, the former Chief Minister, is said to have the support of a majority of the MLAs, the state Congress president is pushing his candidature hard.
