Occasionally, the ground floors of housing societies are demarcated as commercial areas and shops or other businesses are allowed to offer their services to the public from therein. Such shop owners are still considered to be members of the cooperative housing society (CHS/the Society) and are required to abide by the rules prescribed in the bye-laws.
