Bennett Orchards, SoDel Concepts to host demonstration at Lewes farmers' market | Food

The Historic Lewes Farmers’ Market will host a peach-focused demonstration this week, when the market will run from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 31, at George H.P. Smith Park in Lewes. At 10 a.m. in the demo tents, it will be all about peaches when Henry Bennett of Bennett Orchards talks about what it takes to grow juicy Bennett peaches. Then, chef Dru Tevis, corporate pastry chef of SoDel Concepts and winner of Delaware Today’s Best Chef Downstate, takes those peaches and makes a peachy dessert. Customers are being invited to come for the talk and stay for dessert.

SUBMITTED PHOTO The Historic Lewes Farmers Market is set for 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, May 15, at George H. P. Smith Park at Johnson and DuPont avenues in Lewes. Vendors will bring juicy strawberries, freshly cut asparagus, lettuces and greens including mini-romaines, baby kale, bok choy, arugula, Swiss chard, spinach, salad and stir-fry mixes, starter plants including heirloom tomatoes, herbs and various veggies. Customers will also find a great selection of eggs, milk, butter, grass-fed pork, chicken, crabs, oysters, mushrooms, honey, jams, baked goods and more.

Smith Park (Johnson and DuPont avenues) with lots of potted plants, wreaths and flowers to help celebrate moms on their special day. In addition to flowers and plants, the farmers/producers will be bringing freshly cut asparagus, lettuces and greens, including mini-romaines, baby kale, arugula, Swiss chard, spinach, salad and stir-fry mixes. Customers will also find salad turnips, radishes, and perhaps, the first strawberries of the season. There is also a great selection of eggs, milk, butter, pork, chicken, mushrooms, honey, herbs, jams, heavenly baked goods, and more.
