The Lincoln women’s cross country team will make the trip north on Highway 63 to Columbia for the MIAA Cross Country Championships, which will be held today at Gans Creek Cross Country Course. Thirteen MIAA women’s teams will compete in the 6K race, starting at noon, and 11 men’s teams in the MIAA are set to compete in the 8K race starting at 12:45 p.m.
The Lincoln Blue Tigers took ninth place out of 11 teams in the women’s standings Saturday during the Brian T. Simpson Invitational, which was hosted by Missouri-St. Louis at Gans Creek Cross Country Course.
COLUMBIA The Lincoln women’s cross country team opened its season Friday with an 11th-place finish at Columbia College’s Larry Young Invitational at Gans Creek Course.
Lincoln finished with 314 points in the women’s team standings. Truman State won the team title with 41 points.
The Lincoln Blue Tigers will have several athletes in action at the NCAA Division II outdoor track and field national championships, which begin today and continue through Saturday at Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich. Heading into the national championships, both Lincoln teams are ranked in the top 10 in Division II by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The men are ranked No. 7 and the women are ranked No. 8.
