KEY ACTION Tabled any decision on fire protection until more information can be obtained. Solicitor JJ Ong brought a contract from the Uhrichsville Fire Department with costs of $8,712 for one year of fire protection and $6,732 for one year of EMS.
DISCUSSION Fiscal Officer Jan Aldergate explained that the town does not have the money. At the end of the year, funds that are not appropriated will leave a carryover of about $3,000. Ong said he will look into whether the American Rescue Plan funding that the village is expecting can be used on this kind of expense. Ong added that the reality is, the town needs a separate levy to fund this type of expense. Ohler said the Sherrodsville Fire Department felt that their response time would be too long due to the distance between the two villages.
