BEAUREGARD PARISH, La. (KPLC) - An ex-Beauregard deputy was arrested and another deputy was terminated following an investigation into a complaint of unjustified force.
According to the Beauregard Parish Sheriff Mark Herford, on Monday, April 5, 2021, the sheriff’s office received a complaint regarding an unjustified use of force by a deputy.
Herford says the allegation involved two deputies who were assigned to the Beauregard Parish Jail. An investigation was immediately begun by the Detective Division.

Sheriff Mark Herford would like to announce that through the efforts of State Representative Dewith Carrier and United Cajun Navy a very kind and generous donation of blankets, jackets, and gloves has been made to BPSO and will be available for distribution ahead of this severe cold weather expected early this week for anyone in need or who may lose electricity during this event.
These items will be available at our main office located in DeRidder, Westside Substation in the Town of Merryville, and at the Southside Substation in Ragley. Sheriff Herford has made the lobby at our office in DeRidder available as a warming station for those who lose power/heat and are in need.
