HATCHECHUBBEE, Ala. (WTVM) - Severe weather in East Alabama has caused a small fire.
According to Sheriff Heath Taylor, a small fire started at Dudley Hardwood Company after lightning hit a power pole on Highway 431 at Highway 26, near Hatchechubbee.
The hardwood company was closed, but recently reopened.
No injuries have yet been reported.
The severe weather has also caused downed trees, blocking roads around the county.

Alicia Laury, a corrections officer since 2019, was arrested and booked on a charge of "promoting prison contraband in the second degree." The charge is a felony because she was smuggling marijuana, which is illegal in Alabama.
