Wales rout Brittons Hill to stay unbeaten

Weymouth Wales are proving to be unstoppable. The green machine from Carrington Village moved six points clear at the top of the 2023 Barbados Football Association (BFA) Premier League with a 3-0 victory over arch-rivals Brittons Hill on Sunday night at the Wildey Turf.In the highly anticipated top-of-the-table clash, first half strikes from Barbados senior men’s national players Nadre Butcher and Ackeel Applewhaite along with a sublime free kick compliments Rashad Smith, gifted Wales a sixth consecutive win and maintained their perfect record so far this season.Applewhaite played an integral role as Wales broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute, evading two defenders before drilling a cross-field diagonal ball to Butcher. The teenage sensation then took the perfectly-timed pass in stride before slotting past Brittons Hill’s custodian Shaquille Frank. It was the first time for the season that the previously unbeaten Brittons Hill found themselves trailing and it went from bad to worse

Serial losers - Barbados Today

In what was a must-win situation for the Barbados senior national men’s team, they fell agonizingly short 1-0 against Guadeloupe in what was their third straight defeat in Group A of League B in the Concacaf Nations League.Played tonight at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in St. Lucia, the Barbados Tridents conceded a first-half goal against Guadeloupe who are currently battling for the top spot in the group along with Cuba.Unable to keep possession, Tridents’ defensive third let them down when Guadeloupe forward Thierry Ambrose dribbled past two defenders and produced a clinical right-foot finish in the 17th minute of play to earn his team the lead. That was Ambrose’s second goal of the competition having registered a late goal against Cuba in their opening match of the Nations League.National midfielder Omani Leacock put in a good effort but just was unable to find the equalizer for Barbados.

Tridents to rebound? - Barbados Today

A much fitter Barbados senior men’s team are focused and ready to erase their recent bad fortunes, said national head coach Russell ‘Little Magician’ Latapy during the final training session held last night at the Barbados Football Association’s Wildey AstroTurf.Over the past couple of months, the performances have not been favourable for the Bajan Tridents and Latapy said the team is in a much better place now and therefore want to start producing winning results.“We trust in what we do on the training ground, we trust in our structure and the way we want to play and we think that it is going to bring us results. Like I said physically we are much better prepared now than we were four, or six months ago. I think I have had more access to the players at crucial times over the last four weeks.“We have been able to improve the fitness level of players and obviously once we are fitter the decision-making process becomes a lot better. We are in a better place than we were four,
