CONWAY â In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a group has scheduled a Peace Walk for Monday, Jan. 18.
The walk, being sponsored by Being Peace Mount Washington Valley, will depart from the base of Eagles Way near Kennett High at noon and head north to North Conway Villageâs Schouler Park. It will take place along the sidewalk on Route 16. Participants will wear masks and be socially distanced to stay safe from COVID-19.
John Skelton, a member of the group, said the walk is to âhonor the legacy and messageâ of King, the civil rights leader who was slain on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tenn.

ALBANY â Martin Luther King Jr.âs memory will be honored with a community Zoom evening of song, story and reflection presented by the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Eastern Slopes in Tamworth village and the Albany-based World Fellowship Center on Monday, Jan. 18, at 6 p.m.
Featured speaker Arnold L. Farr is professor of philosophy at the University of Kentucky. He is also founder and president of the International Herbert Marcuse Society. Farr has published dozens of articles and a couple of books on race, critical theory, and a wide range of other social issues in social/political philosophy.
Farr is a member of the state coordinating committee for Kentucky Poor Peopleâs Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival and several other activist and political organizations. Last Night Wolfeboro goes virtual
December 16, 2020WOLFEBORO After months of planning Last Night Wolfeboro 2020 for Dec. 31, virtual games, music, magic and storytelling will take place, but fireworks have been cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns.
According to Selectman Linda Murray and Chair of Wolfeboro s Special Events Committee, As we all know, the recent rise in COVID-19 cases in Wolfeboro and beyond has led to cancellation of many events. Because of this public health concern, Wolfeboro town officials have made the decision to cancel Dec. 31 fireworks as well as the postponement date. We are also considering the Last Night Wolfeboro scavenger hunt event and will update the public via social media and the town web site if that event changes.
