it s tuesday the 12th of september. welcome to bbc newsroom live. the cost of living has risen again, blamed on the higher cost of imported goods like clothes and shoes. it s now back at the peak of 2.9% it last hit in may this year. our business correspondent ben thompson is here to explain. i ll let you talk us through the latest figures. inflation is the cost of living, it shows how quickly things don t work the price of things don t work the price of things is rising. it has hit 2.9%. today s figure was expected to come ina today s figure was expected to come in a little lower than that. why are prices rising so quickly? it is a cost of imported things, issues, household goods. all of those sorts of things. they are more expensive because after we voted to leave the eu, the value of the pound fell which means things we import from overseas are more expensive. it is the first indication we are getting all those things we buy from overseas are adding to the overall cost of
person caught. apple unveiled the new iphone. they say it has a sleek new design and water and dust resistants, a faster processer and state-of-the-art camera. gone are the ear buds and they will not have a ear bud jack. a man accused of kidnapping two women is now speaking out from behind bars. he says it s all lies, he sat down with us at the jail. reporter: sitting down, he looks very different from that week ago. he claims he wasn t trying to change his appearance. when i woke up, i thought i need to go down and clear my name. i didn t know any of that was happening. reporter: police say that the suspect tried to communicate two women. both of the victims he did not know, he encountered them on the streets. after following them, he tried to drag them into his car after putting a sweatshirt over her head. he says he was trying to give her a ride. i told her, to make her feel better, she could take a picture of the car and call her mom and feel safe. the
