A partisan divide on the Lake County Council forced a recommended amendment to the new Unified Development Ordinance back to the Plan Commission for reconsideration. Democrats on the council Tuesday rejected the amendment to the UDO brought forth by Councilman Randy Niemeyer, R-Cedar Lake, after a confusing explanation by the attorneys of what the council could do and when they needed to do it .
