Lindbergh also made headlines here a year after his solo transatlantic flight, when one of his planes crashed in the woods of Pike County, killing two aviators (Lindbergh was not aboard). A sketch of Lindbergh First, here is a brief account of Charles Augustus Lindbergh. He was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1902. Following his passion, he learned to fly in 1922 and was soon barnstorming in the Mid-West as a wing walker and parachutist.
