Good evening, from new york, im chris hayes. Donald trump is now trying to run out the clock on the investigation into his new attempt. He wants to stop the january Six Committee from getting access to his records, by claiming, dubious Executive Privilege. As i noted there, that claim was already rejected by the sitting president , who gets to decide. Also, by a fraternal judge, then by an Appeals Court earlier this month. Trump was then given two weeks to appeal his case in Supreme Court, before the documents were released. So, today, exactly two weeks later, trumps lawyers finally fully appealed the Supreme Court, on the last possible day. That is of course, intentional. Its all part of a strategy to drag the process as long as possible. Something thats been incredibly, incredibly successful during trumps career. Trying to stop the delay tactics, the house is now asking the Supreme Court to expedite its decision on whether or not to take the case. Lawmakers plan to follow brief next
