U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden
First, I should like to congratulate President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for their successful election and inauguration as President and Vice President of the United States of America. Second, now that Joe and Kamala have taken their oaths of office, I believe this is an opportune time to share with them a Liberian Kpelle proverb called “Kukujumuku”.
The literal translation of the Kpelle word “kukujumuku” in the English language is: “If you are not wearing the shoes you can never feel the pinch the wearer of the shoes is going through.” In this text, the expression “kukujumuku” is used to explain to the American nation and people and the world about the golden rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Hence, I use this African proverb to narrate the reactions of several American Presidents and at that time then Vice President Joe Biden whom I wrote expressing concerns
