For this anniversary, which opened in july of 2015, we wanted to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the delano Grape Strike, which launched the farm Workers Movement in september of 1965. We did that through an exhibition on Dolores Huerta, who was on Cesar Chavezs words, the coarchitect of the Farm Workers strike with him. She was instrumental to achievements of the movement that gave dignity and improved the condition of migrant Farm Workers. Not many people are f

And i wanted to start off by saying a few general remarks, and things that i hope that you take away from the course of the evening. Im going to be argumentative and be bold in my statements. I would definitely say as a historian that when we study the Delano Grape strikes that it is one of the most important and civil Rights Movement not only for mexican americans and latinos, but also for filipino americans in the 20th century, and some might even take it step further and say that the united Farm Workers conducted the most successful boycott in all of u. S. Labor history since the beginning of the history, and so, again, it is a landmark significant event on the national and even international scale. Newest asylumseekers, the members of the Texas House of representatives, the democratic were present the democratic representatives. They are facing the expectation that they would actually do their jobs in the Texas Legislature, the job they campaigned for and were elected to do. Following unsuccessful attempts to pass on Election Integrity Bill during the regular legislate of session, earlier this year, governor abbotts now called a special session for the Texas Legislature to consider that and other matters. That special session kicked off last Tuesday Excuse me, last thursday. But the chambers already being held hostage by a minority of house members, who are unwilling to do their job. Now, democrats raised concerns about the current draft of the bill, and make no mistake, that is why the legislative process actually exists.
