first white house correspondent peter doocy starts us off live tonight from the north lawn, good evening, peter. good evening, bret. voicials around here want people focused on the new infrastructure law traveling to minnesota tomorrow to celebrate its passage but, instead, they are dealing with the latest reminder that this president, who promised to shut down the virus hasn t. it s called the omicron. this variant is a cause for concern not a cause for panic. but new travel restrictions are in place on residents of eight african countries dealing with outbreaks. the point of the travel of the restriction, to give us time to get people to get protection, to be vaccinated and get the booster. that s even though biden blasted trump the day he announced similar travel bans. this is no time for donald trump s record of hysteria, xenophobia to lead the way instead of science. critics see a clear flip flop. when president trump did this he was labeled as a raci
scientific and knowledgeable actions and speed, not chaos and confusion. and we were told today to fight the variant more than ever before. the best protection against this new variant or any of the variance out there the ones we have been dealing with already is getting fully vaccinated and getting a booster shot. dana: but the doctor in south africa who discovered the variant said the world could be overacting. what we are observing is moral cases. there is nothing significant that says we are moving into a program moving forward. dana: president biden with hypocrisy over the travel ban and the candidates accuse president trump of being xenophobic with a ban on china during the pandemic. but the white house says it is not the same this time. what the president was critical of was the way the former president put outcome i believe a vehicle, a tweet on how he called the coronavirus and who he directed it at. the president has not been critical of travel restrictions.
