BOSTON The state’s highest court on Friday declined to overturn the first-degree murder conviction of Benjamin Martinez of Chicopee, who is serving a life sentence for the 2004 killing of a pregnant woman in her Springfield apartment.
In a 21-page decision, the Supreme Judicial Court turned aside Martinez’s appeal of his conviction, and dismissed his arguments that errors by the trial judge regarding the admission of evidence and instructions to the jury contributed to a wrongful conviction.
