A Steuben County Sheriff’s Deputy was arrested Thursday after a person contacted Bath State Police in mid-February to report alleged inappropriate behavior while the deputy was off-duty.
Deputy Joseph J. Winters, 28, of Painted Post, was charged with second-degree criminal trespass, a misdemeanor, regarding an incident that occurred Feb. 3 in the Village of Savona, according to Bath-based New York State Police.
Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard said with the criminal investigation completed, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office will conduct an administrative investigation into the allegations concerning the deputy’s conduct. 
“The investigation began over a week ago,” Allard said. “The arrest was for entering or remaining unlawfully at a premise. Bath State Police investigated the complaint and issued an appearance ticket Thursday.” ....
