College students' political views shift closer to their roommates' views over time, study finds

A study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences found convincing evidence that a student’s political views are significantly influenced by those they socialize with during college. Students who were assigned a roommate with different political beliefs tended to move closer toward their roommates’ political preferences at the end of the year. Higher education has become a heated topic among politicians.
