BLM temporarily closes Santa Cruz Lake Recreation Area for public safety
TAOS, N.M. – The Bureau of Land Management Taos Field Office has temporarily closed access to the Santa Cruz Lake Recreation Area due to winter weather conditions and public safety concerns. The lake is currently covered in a sheet of ice and may be dangerous to the public if they visit the area. The BLM will continue to assess the area and will notify the public when conditions allow the reopening for public use.

BLM adjusts hours of operation at Santa Cruz Lake Recreation Area
TAOS, N.M. – The Bureau of Land Management Taos Field Office has adjusted the hours of operation for the Santa Cruz Lake Recreation Area. The hours of operation will be:
Thursday through Sunday: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. (day-use only)
Monday through Wednesday: Closed
The area will remain closed to all over-night camping.
“The BLM is happy to provide the wonderful recreation opportunities available at Santa Cruz Lake and looks forward to the public’s continued interest in the area,” said Judy Culver, BLM Taos Acting Field Manager.
