The rain is expected to cease for the rest of the week, with mostly cloudy weather Thursday and scattered clouds through Monday. However, Hoppin said staff would be monitoring a potentially significant weather event slated for Wednesday, where both the return of rain and high tides are expected.
"Following last winter, our drainage crews walked creek beds throughout the county, clearing large logjams and overgrown vegetation to help reduce flood risk," writes Matt Machado in a Guest Commentary. "We dredged Corralitos Creek and Coward Creek to restore capacity. We’ve lined several major culverts with piping to prevent failure. We are raising Spring Valley Road to help prevent residents there from being trapped by flooding."
The report seeks to first identify transportation infrastructure assets such as roads, bridges and trails across the county that may be impacted by climate hazards and then develop an order in which those assets should undergo a more detailed analysis for climate adaptation.
