Meera Kymal is the Managing Editor at India Currents and Founder/Producer at desicollective.media. She produces multi-platform content on the South Asian diaspora through the lens of social justice, politics, and the arts. Her stories examine how racial disparities and health inequities disproportionately affect minority communities in a world that is more diverse but less equal. Meera is a 2021 & 2022 Fellow of USC Annenberg's Center for Health Journalism, reporting on domestic violence in the South Asian community. In 2022 she won a grant from Altavoz Labs to report on aging. She has received Journalistic Excellence awards from the San Francisco Press Club and from California News Publishers Association for In-Depth Reporting. Her stories have appeared on India Currents, Palabra, Indiaspora, American Kahani, and AALDEF.
