morning, mike. good morning, marty. just about 020 seconds ago, they re had hadding west down marina boulevard over the golden gate bridge and will snake their way back here. 5,000 runners from 24 different countries are taking part this morning. this is the 13th annual u.s. half marathon in san francisco. many people here are running to benefit saint jude s children s hospital. some of the bigger marathon that is we ve covered. many people have run a couple of these types of races before. so we re looking forward to seeing how well we ll cope with the hills. with the strategy, we re not looking forward to it. this year. the strategy is a good thing. we re 13.1 miles trying to finish without stopping. a lot of road closures in effect this morning, among them bay street and laguna that runs until 8:00 this morning. the intersection at bay street and franklin octavia are shutdown until 8:00 this morning. several routes have been rerouted in the area but perhaps impactin
four people are dead tonight after one of the worst fishing disasters in the bay area in recent memory. it started on a fishing boat and ended with a wave turning the boat over and throwing the people into the chilly ocean waters. this was just before 10:00 this morning. when emergency crews arrived, three men and a woman were in the water. they pulled four unresponsive persons out of the water and identified one person that was responsive. reporter: a fifth person survived, a man wearing a t shirt and jeans and suffered from shakes presumably from the rocks. he was very confused, hyperthermic. reporter: he s been identified as a 66-year-old. when people are hype they hype therm wear your life jackets. if you ve never gone out on the ocean, do some research. we want to give you new information we just got. i want to read it off the computer screen. it came in an e-mail from the sheriff s office. three of the four people who died have been identified. seventy-n
like shot and a car screeching away. police say someone fired multiple shots at a man and hit him in the torso. the victim walked across divisadero street and collapsed. the storeowner called 911 and man later died at sf general hospital. it jolted me out of bed and i walked out here and ambulance, fire trucks and it was out of a horror morning. she is frustrated with this area of western edition where she says crime has persisted for the past decade. i m scared to go out to the store and buy a bag of chips and sandwich, what if i get shot? other neighbors are concerned not just about the shootings, but car break-ins and even the robbery of a child selling candy last july? in the five years i have been here, i have heard and witnessed so much criminal activity. reporter: this woman says the community rallies, but change is needed. in fact, we were talking about having another neighborhood meeting, what can we do to try to help create a safer neighborhood? re
