JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - As funeral homes become overwhelmed by COVID-19 deaths, ICU beds in the state are also becoming limited.
On Friday, the Arkansas Department of Health reported 37 ICU beds are available statewide.
NEA Baptist discusses ICU bed availability
NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital has three wings devoted to 18 ICU beds each. One of those wings is for positive COVID-19 patients.
CEO Sam Lynd said those beds have been full the last few weeks.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KAIT) - Gov. Asa Hutchinson and Arkansas Department of Health Secretary Dr. Jose R. Romero gave an update on the state’s response to the coronavirus, including the latest cases of COVID-19 and deaths.
Gov. Hutchinson says that NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro was one of the first to get the vaccine in the state.
NEA Baptist CEO Sam Lind says the hospitals here (NEA) remain busy, difficult across the state and in our region.

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - On Thursday night, Gov. Asa Hutchinson delivered a rare state address where he specifically addressed the state of Jonesboro hospitals.
In a nearly 15-minute address from the Governorâs Office, Hutchinson spoke about the COVID-19 pandemic and how it has impacted residents around the state.
The governor said nearly 1.3 million people in Arkansas - roughly 40 percent - have been tested for the coronavirus so far. The state has seen its share of surges including recent surges after Thanksgiving.
