For students, the welcome warmth of the spring sun, the tantalizing sight of green grass and manicured base lines, the far off sound of a bat meeting a ball, the imagined scent of popcorn and hotdogs, can be powerful distracters. Desperate measures are called for! Bring the game into the classroom and score a home run with this week s Education World lessons and activities. Although most are designed for students in grades 5 and above, many can be adapted for younger students as well.
Four Southwest Wisconsin school districts are receiving grants totaling nearly $120,000 to buy equipment to prepare students for careers in advanced manufacturing fields. The recipients are: Southwestern and Prairie du Chien schools, with $49,900 each for “Regional Equitable Access in Additive Manufacturing through Augmented Reality” to each buy two “augmented reality welding training systems.” Benton School District, with just over $10,000 for “Personal Protective Equipment and Credentialing: Southwest Wisconsin Style” to buy a 3M Worker Health and Safety Awareness Program PPE Kit, instructional materials and instructor training, and Cuba City schools, with just over $9,600 for its high school Career and Technical Education Enrichment Program to buy and install equipment including a computer numerical control plasma cutting table, instructional materials and software.
Little League ASAP Guidance for the 2021 Season: Coronavirus Pandemic Mitigation
As the world continues to cope with the coronavirus pandemic, planning for the 2021 Little League® season poses a variety of previously unimaginable challenges for local leagues and districts. The highest priority for Little League communities is to create a safe and healthy environment for all children. With that fundamental goal in mind, the importance of preparing and executing A Safety Awareness Program (ASAP) Safety Plan is critically important. Including a coronavirus mitigation protocol
is strongly encouraged when preparing your 2021 ASAP plan. Safety Plans submitted without the inclusion of a coronavirus mitigation plan will be eligible for approval by Little League, however the lack of such protocols will likely affect the opportunity to be recognized as a regional or national winner of the Best Safety Plan award.
