Only 1 doc for 60 ventilators at Ranchi sadar hosp | Ranchi News

Ranchi: Even as state capital Ranchi grapples with a surge in infections, accounting for more than 50% of the total active cases in Jharkhand, the district hospital here has got only one doctor to handle 60 ventilators. Notably, ventilators are operated under the supervision of doctor who have specialisation in anaesthesia. As per the data provided by the district health authorities, the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) has 18 ventilators and the central hospital of Central Coalfields Limited has a lone ventilator. The sadar hospital in Ranchi has a total of 60 ventilators, but none of them has been used since the second wave of infections began in the state. Till Monday morning, Ranchi had 3,015 of 5,244 active cases in the state.

Sadar staff found dead, kin files plaint against colleagues | Ranchi News

Representative image RANCHI: A 26-year-old contractual employee at sadar hospital was found dead in the hospital on Tuesday night. Although hospital sources told deceased Rahul Sharma’s family that he killed himself, his father Harihar Baitha has alleged foul play and submitted a written complaint at Lower Bazaar police station on Wednesday, accusing two of Rahul’s colleagues of murdering him. As per the complaint, a copy of which is with TOI, Baitha said that he had spoken to his son around 9:30pm on Tuesday night and he was doing fine. But around 11:30pm, a co-worker called him to inform that his son is dead. “I have been told that Vaibhav Soren and Sakendra Kumar Thakur are behind my son’s death as they had an altercation with him three days ago and had beat him up badly,” Baitha said.

Kerosene blasts: 1 more death pushes toll to 5 in Hazaribag | Ranchi News

Fire-cracker like explosions on Kshipra has scared residents HAZARIBAG: The death toll due to the blasts caused by adulterated kerosene in Hazaribag district mounted to five on Tuesday late night after Urmila Devi (45), resident of Sekha village under Amnari panchayat, succumbed to her burn injuries at Ranchi’s Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims). Hazaribag deputy commissioner Aditya Kumar Anand said, “Urmila worked at a hotel in Hazaribag after her husband died a few years ago in an accident. She is survived by her four children. Urmila had collected her quota of kerosene and on March 1, when she lit the stove, the oil exploded.”

Puja-like scene at sadar hosp as vax drive begins | Ranchi News

Ranchi: The sadar hospital in Ranchi wore a festive look with balloons hanging from the ceilings and rangolis on the floor as the Covid-19 vaccination drive began in the city around 10.45am on Saturday. After 10 months of the pandemic, the vaccination to control the pandemic commenced at 48 centres across the state. Dr Ranju Sinha, a pathologist working with at the hospital and among the first five recipients of the vaccine, was excited to get inoculated on Day One and was counselling her colleagues as she prepared to get the shot. “I have complete trust in the work of our scientists and researchers who have worked day and night to come up with this vaccine. You shouldn’t harbour an iota of doubt over its efficacy,” the 49-year-old said, while motivating one of her colleagues.
