Author: Matt Lackritz (CBS 19) Published: 8:22 PM CST December 17, 2020 Updated: 7:24 AM CST December 18, 2020 TYLER, Texas The new COVID-19 vaccine arrived at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital Thursday morning.  The first doses were given to frontline workers at their hospitals in the afternoon. Jonathan Henderson, a pulmonologist, and Ryan Tamula, an ER nurse, are two of roughly 100 frontline workers who took the COVID-19 vaccine Thursday. After getting the shot both were in good spirits and see this as a big step forward for East Texas.   There was a little bit of butterflies, but I m happy to report no adverse effects, Tamula said.

Inside the box was Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine. “Hopefully it’s the end of this pandemic,” said Ryan Tamula, the administrative director of emergency services. Tamula works inside the emergency room and said he comes face-to-face with COVID-19 every day. He was one of the first frontline workers to receive the vaccine at CHRISTUS Mother Frances, just hours after the vaccine arrived.
