The United States is preparing a $1 billion military aid package for Ukraine sourced from the Ukraine-Israel bill, which is yet to be signed. The aid includes vehicles, Stinger air defense munitions, artillery ammunition, and anti-tank munitions, among other weapons. President Biden had requested $60.8 billion in aid for Ukraine, but the initiative stalled in the House. The Senate is expected to vote on several bills, including the Ukraine bill, which also includes provisions for further Presidential Drawdown Authority. This aid package aims to support Ukraine against Russia s increasing military pressure.
Ukraine said on Monday its troops were still fighting against the attempted encirclement of Bakhmut, while Washington said that even if the eastern city should fall to Russia's offensive, it would not necessarily give Moscow momentum in the war.
