Paraguayan bananas produced in Cordillera reach the Argentine market
Banana producers from the town of San José Obrero, in the department of Cordillera, have already shipped the first loads of the 30,000 boxes of Paraguayan bananas the department will send to Argentina. This is a milestone for the region, as it is the first time that producers in the area have managed to export the fruit, stated Hugo Franco, a member of the Intersectoral Table for Banana Competitiveness.
Exports are the result of the joint work between producer organizations, companies, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) of Paraguay. Franco highlighted the important role that MAG had providing producers, who worked in a coordinated manner, with tools and training.
