The DMK govt had moved the top court after a Division Bench of the High Court had on February 10 set aside a November 4, 2022, order by a single-judge bench that had asked the RSS to organise the march in “compounded premises such as ground or stadium”.
The Tamil Nadu government told the Supreme Court it is not completely opposed to allowing the RSS' route marches and public meetings across the state on March 5 but cited intelligence reports to say these cannot be held in every street.
The Tamil Nadu government has approached Supreme Court to challenge a Madras High Court order that had aside conditions imposed by a single-Judge on a state-wide RSS route march proposed to be held in the State.
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, or RSS, held marches in Tamil Nadu's Kallakurichi, Cuddalore and Perambalur districts today, a day after the BJP's ideological mentor said it was cancelling the event, following a hearing in the Madras High Court.
