ASKED what she thought of Chin’s involvement in Force 136 as a secret agent, retired Army Lieutenant Colonel of the Royal Intelligence Corps and Macva Vice President, Carol Loo Lee Fum, said:
“To me it’s a sacrifice for him because to join Force 136 those days, they were a special breed, just equivalent to our commandos, they were well trained to penetrate the enemy front line, so it’s equally dangerous and I respect Datuk Chin for being able to carry out the task and today, he being the only surviving Force 136 in Malaysia and he is celebrating his 100th birthday very soon, Dec 26, I heard!”
“Today is a proud moment for especially in the Malaysian Armed Forces Chinese Veterans Association, that we are able to honour our veteran Datuk Chin who is the only survivor from Force 136 and we are proud to meet architect Datuk Ho Jia Lit who had made the bridge to link us to Datuk Chin,” Lt Colonel Loo said.
