Today but tonight was more than about the fist pump. It was also a night in speeches focused on today s theme. Since joe biden s performance at the first debate came very near to upending his candidacy, president biden has been demonstrating what an energized, fired up biden campaign looks like. He s made about two dozen public appearances including rallies and fundraisers and interviews. That fire hose of campaigning, a though, stopped instantly after the assassination attempt saturday night against his opponent in the race. Since then, joe biden as president has made a number of appearances and public remarks about the assassination attempt. It started with a written statement on saturday, saying he had been briefed on the incident, he was praying for donald trump and his family. Saying he expected and

D. Vance to be his running mate. The start of the republican national convention taking place at an incredibly tense and volatile moment for the entire country. Less than 48 hours after an assassination attempt on the expresident, a shooting that left one person dead, two others critically injured. If we see donald trump today it will be his first public appearance since that horrific and tragic incident. It is violence that is deeply corrosive to our democracy. We all unequivocally condemn it in the strongest terms possible and as my colleague rachel maddow puts it, quote, there is no no no violent solution to any american political conflict.
