PBOT reported at 8 a.m. that the NWS told them "more freezing rain could be on the way, beginning as early as 10 a.m." Said PBOT: "Avoid unnecessary travel."
The Oregon Department of Transportation closed the freeway just after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, saying it wanted to prevent drivers from risking getting stranded.
Temperatures are rising across the metro area Wednesday morning, but they won't get above freezing everywhere at once, and the ice will take time to melt.
