Smoke comes out of a coach of the Rajdhani Express near Fakiragram in Kokrajhar district on Saturday
GUWAHATI: Panic spread among the passengers of a New Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express after they noticed smoke coming out of a coach near Fakiragram in lower Assam’s Kokrajhar district on Saturday.
Clarifying that there was no fire, chief public relations officer of Northeast Frontier Railway, Subhanan Chanda, told TOI, “It was just a case of brake binding. That creates some smoke due to the heat that is generated. It is nothing serious.”
A group of NCC cadets, who were travelling from Dibrugarh to New Delhi for the Republic Day Parade Camp, were the first ones to notice smoke coming out of the B7 coach of the train. “The cadets, who were travelling in B6, helped fellow travellers evacuate, which ultimately saved the lives of many. This life saving task undertaken by the cadets , taking the risk is the result of disaster management training imparted to them in NCC ....
