She wanted to become an Eagle Scout, the highest honor achieved by about 6 percent of Boy Scouts.
She accomplished the rare feat when she completed her Eagle Board of Review on Jan. 13, and along the way, became the first female Eagle Scout from the Dan Beard Council that serves about 23,000 families in 12 regional counties, including Butler.
Call Renee Bauer a trailblazer, a glass-breaker, or a pioneer, though those titles werenât her driving force.

WEST CHESTER, Ohio (FOX19) - Nearly 15,000 Greater Cincinnati boys have earned scoutingâs highest honor over the past century. Now, thereâs a girl among the ranks.
Renee Bauer is the first member from the Tri-State in the inaugural class of female Eagle Scouts, accomplishing the rank just two years after she was allowed to join what was previously the Boy Scouts.
Lewis and Clark celebrates 660 years of staff, faculty service

GODFREY The Lewis and Clark Community College Board of Trustees has recognized 51 faculty and staff for their combined 660 years of service to the college during last Tuesday’s regular meeting.
For the past 34 years, Lewis and Clark has celebrated team members who reach five-year employment milestones with a Service Awards dinner in the fall. However, the Fall 2020 Service Awards event was canceled due to COVID-19.
“I express admiration and gratitude to the dedicated members of our Trailblazer team who have served our mission over the years and contributed to making Lewis and Clark a remarkable college,” said President Ken Trzaska. “I thank each of our service award recipients for their devotion to serve students and advance our collective work.”
