have requested their trials be sped up. the trump legal team offered a now familiar argument about not having enough time to prepare for a trial in the near future. today we also got our first look at the full transcript of the former trump chief of staff mark meadows after he took the stand for nearly 4 hours earlier this week. that transcript included meadows explanation for one of the most curious and overtly political incidents in the whole georgia saga. after the 2020 election meadows made a surprise trip to a civic center in cobb county, georgia, where the state s ballot auditing process was taking place. no one s been able to explain what meadows was during there that day, but during his cross-examination on the stand mark meadows told the court that he showed up to that ballot counting facility uninvited. he said no one told him to go there. he just happened to be in the atlanta area at the time so he thought he d show up. you know you re on vacation in atlanta you v
good evening once again, i m stephanie ruhle. we begin this broadcast with the rapidly growing legal perils for donald j trump. his codefendants and his closest allies. along with his pending criminal trials, the former president, some of his kids and his business now face a whopping 250 million dollar civil lawsuit from new york attorney general tish james. in new court documents filed earlier, james alleges that donald trump routinely overstated his personal net worth to financial institutions, in one single year, by as much as 2. 2 billion dollars. according to james s lawsuit, the asset inflation went on for ten years in an effort to get better loan agreements. the trial is supposed to begin in early october, ahead of any of trump s criminal cases. meanwhile, a federal judge ruled that former trump lawyer and advisor rudy giuliani defamed georgia election workers, ruby freeman and her daughter, shaye moss. giuliani made repeated false claims about the two of them as he wo
that georgia case involving donald trump s alleged efforts to overturn the election. sydney powell, this woman, asked the court to separate her case from the other 19 defendants in the trial. their lawyers claimed sydney powell, quote, has no substantive connection to any other defendant regarding the incharges in the indictment, end quote, and therefore should be tried alone. that is to put it mildly a difficult case to make. powell seen here standing alongside rudy giuliani in front of a campaign sign for the codefendant for donald trump, at that meeting they considered making sydney powell a special counsel so that she could investigate the election. but now her lawyers say she doesn t really know any of those folks. another codefendant in the georgia case, this man kenneth chesebro has also filed a motion to sever his file from the others. mr. chesebro would like the court to release the names of 30 coconspirators in the indictment. there are 30 of them not named. fani wi
